Once upon a time...
there was a castle...but without a princess.
This castle was built in 1357 (under the heel of Galeazzo Visconti) on an older castle built approximately in 1290 (under the heel of Giovanni Visconti) on an older castle built approximately in 1272 (under the heel of Della Torre family)...so, a lot of sandcastles...
Restored several times during the centuries, in the XX Century it was a prison till the 70's.

un castello...ma senza principessa.
Questo castello fu costruito nel 1357 (sotto il dominio di Galeazzo Visconti) su di un castello più vecchio costruito intorno al 1290 (sotto il dominio di Giovanni Visconti) su di un castello più vecchio costruito intorno al 1272 (sotto il dominio della casata dei Della Torre)...insomma, tanti castelli di sabbia...
Restaurato più volte nel corso dei secoli, nel XX secolo fu una prigione fino agli anni '70.

nice! A castle with a lot of character.
The castle seems tall. Did you stand on something to take this shot? Anyway, this castle is still well in shape. I couldn't believe it was once a prison. :D
I knew it looked really old and then read your post. It's amazing they had this as a prison at one time. I wonder how secure it was.
