Jurassic Novara

This huge green lizard (you can compare its dimension with my foot on the right) is another symbol used on city sidewalks for the children sign system (posted on 08.01.2007).

The male sunset?

The use of Cialis, Viagra or other analogous pills is diffused more and more (among young people, too).

The “dangerous bend” is the problem illustrated by this road sign.

Natural Pollock

Bare trees against the light. Black shadows on a bright sky. Like dripping paintbrush on a canvas.

Pollock naturale
Alberi spogli controluce. Ombre nere su un cielo luminoso. Come pennellate su una tela.

Water...is a Right

This is a memorable drinking fountain in Novara; it is the San Gaudenzio's "Funtanela".

But probably it is time to rethink about the use of water....; 1,2 billion people need drinking water in the world (1 man in 5).

Hockey and ice...cream

Mr. Renzo Zaffinetti is one of the best roller skates hockey players in the world. He played for more than 20 years in the Novara Hockey Team.

And his ice cream in one of the best ice cream in the world: he won different prizes in different world championships.

No air, no artificial aromas or strange elements, but only first class ingredients...and an incredible passion.

A secure Port

Some rowing boats are moored in the centre of the city; they are ready to sail with a lot of money…and the terrible wild beast at prow will defend the precious loading against pirates.

This is one of the beautiful high relief decorations that adorn the windows of the Bank of Italy.

Porto sicuro

Goal!

Amatori Rugby Novara is the Novarese rugby team with a prideful past in the bush league.

Even if I destroyed my knee anterior cruciate ligament playing rugby, I really love this incredible sport. It is a metaphor of our life. We see our goal posts; sometimes they are far and far. But slowly, building our actions with people we trust, we will reach our try-line.

Good luck everybody.

Meta!

Money, money, money!

The refrain of a Betty Curtis’ famous song “Soldi, sodi, soldi” (“Money, money, money”) to present the Neoclassical entrance of the Bank of Italy.

Hoping to withdraw…

Urban texture #2

During the Sixties a group of great architects (Vittorio Gregotti, Ludovico Meneghetti and Giotto Stoppino) designed important buildings in the centre of the city.

This is the modular glass facade of the Farm Bank Offices in Saint Gaudenzio street.

Modern Art

This is not an installation by Richard Serra or by Jannis Kounellis; also because this is not an exhibition about Modern Art.

These are iron rods that will reinforce the concrete pillars used for a new flyover
.

Arte Moderna

Escher in Novara

The Hospital courtyard is a wonderful Neoclassical architecture rhythmically scanned by columns and arches.

Wherever you may be, you can always have fun looking for amazing symmetries and unusual vanishing points.

The drunk tree

This is probably one of the consequences of smog and air pollution on trees.

As you can see, Novara is a very happy city!

L’albero ubriaco

Empty tanks

At 19:00 has started a wildcat gas station strike against liberalizations proposed by the Government; it will finish on friday.

But not all vehicles need fuel: this rocking motorcycle does not go too far...but certainly it has a great autonomy!

Serbatoi vuoti

Breakfast at Station

When you wake up late in the morning and, due to the train, you can not relish your breakfast at home, you can always bank on a vending machine filled with every kind of food.

…hoping it does not pilfer your coins…!

Minesweeper

Unfortunately this mine and the torpedo at the back were not toys, but weapons used during the two World Wars.

These are precious war relics exposed at the Novarese Historical Museum "Aldo Rossini".

Wait it out?

When you are child you have the privilege to see the world from a different point of view.

A basket seems to be unreachable but you have only to wait patiently…

Egypt in Novara?

This pyramid is not a Pharaoh’s tomb, but the Bicocca charnel house, a monument erected in 1879 on the place where the Piedmontese army was heavily decimated by the Austrian one, commanded by Radetzky, on the 23rd of march 1849.

Egitto a Novara?
